Photos XMP DC tags not showing up

Bonjour Jérôme,
I am fighting with Apple Photos (macOS Monterey 12.6.1) and the export of metadata.
When I export the file as an unmodified file with a side IPTC as XMP file, I can find the Title and the Legend of my photo as typed within Photos in the XMP dc:title and dc:description tags, but these tags do not show up if I open the xmp file with MetaImage (2.2.0).

     <dc:title>Sant'Ivo della Sapienza</dc:title>
<dc:description>Vue sur le clocher hélicoïdal de Sant’ Ivo alla Sapienza.</dc:description>

I would love to have those visible in MetaImage so they could be copied/pasted to the EXIF Description.

By the way, I was able to share a photo from my flow into a shared album while keeping the description, but I cannot remember how I have done it, because it does not seem possible according to Apple.

Best regards,
Xavier

Hello Xavier,

MetaImage reads these two tags as XMP:Title and XMP:Description.

MetaImage can do it it with the compare mode. Here is a short tutorial. It works with XMP files.

Maybe you had exported the modified versions of the files from Photos?

Best regards

I found out that if your image includes an EXIF Description, (EXIF:ImageDescription: “This is the description of the image”) it is stored in Apple Photos and can be seen looking at image information (Cmd-i).
For shared albums, you cannot display any image information browsing a shared album on iPhone or iPad, but, when you share a single image to a shared album, the Image description is copied as the first comment of the picture, and therefore becomes visible to anyone. You have to share your images one by one. If you select a batch of images to be shared, no comment will be created from each EXIF Description.
