MetaVideo is immensely slow!

I have several video files to add Tags. In every single file I have to add 13 different Tags. The files are located in an external drive.
To add the 13 Tags to each file, MetaVideo spend between 7 to 15 minutes. I suspect this time interval is related to file duration, but I am not sure.
For me, this is an huge amount of time to perform each task.
This is the way that MetaVideo work, or perhaps anything is here not OK?
I will appreciate your inputs/comments please.

Best regards,

Miguel

Hello Miguel,

I believe the slowness might be due to the sandboxing of the app and the fact that the files are stored in your external drive. If the app detects that the macOS system doesn’t allow it to modify the file directly, it copies the file locally, edits the copy, and then replaces the original file with the copy. I think the delay you’re experiencing is the copying process in both directions. The editing and saving of changes are almost instantaneous. I’ve been working on a new engine for MetaVideo/MetaImage with incredible performance for weeks, but I’m still unsure about its release date.

Please let me know if the process is as slow when the video is stored on your main disk.

Dear Jérémy,

I did some tests with internal disks and external ones and the results are:

I used a 8GB MP4 video file and applied 14 Tags to it.
The main hardware was the same (Mac Book Pro M3 Pro).

The 8GB file inside an external 2TB HDD toke 7 minutes and 54 seconds to be finished.

The same 8GB file inside the Mac Book 1TB internal SSD toke 47 seconds to perform the same task.

So, I believe you are right in your answer, but I would expect this times to be much more shorter than they are, regarding most of the jobs normally implies several big files at once.

Thanks for your time.

Best regards,

Miguel Madeira
