Is there a way to change (meaning assign) a color profile to an image that has NO profil or a different profile. I want to do this non-destructively for jpeg images. Is it possible? Exiftool can do it with the command-line, not sure if you are using it as the backbone of MetaImage.

MetaImage uses CoreImage and ExifTool as engines. Currently, MetaImage can edit some ICC tags and manage ICC files as sidecar files in the main menu.
If you have a specific Exiftool command idea, feel free to share it here. I would note it to add the option.

Is the Sidecar option what we’re supposed to use to do what the OP is asking? I can’t figure out how it’s supposed to work. If I go Sidecar > Import Sidecar > ICC, I would expect it to prompt me to choose an ICC profile. But instead it just says “Task added” and “Task done” immediately. Meanwhile, if you make the ICC Profile tag visible in the tag list, it gives you a text area to paste into, but my ICC profile is a binary file, so that won’t work.
The question remains: Is it possible to assign an ICC profile in MetaImage as it stands? If so, a step-by-step guide would be extremely helpful.
Yes, MetaImage can import an ICC profile through Sidecar > Import Sidecar > ICC, but that command looks for a matching .icc sidecar next to the selected image; it does not open a file picker. Put the profile in the image’s folder using the matching sidecar filename, select the image, and run the command. You can use Sidecar > Export Sidecar > ICConce to see the filename convention used by your version. The ICC Profile text field is not suitable for pasting a binary profile. If the task finishes immediately, MetaImage may not have found a matching sidecar
